Connections

The Connections page is where you manage links to external accounting and ERP systems. Each connection is a configured link to one external service instance. Once connected, you can attach automation rules to control what happens when documents are processed.

Each connection represents:

  • One external system
  • One configured integration

Menu with Rename and Delete

The table loads 25 connections at a time. Scroll to the bottom to load more.

Add a connection

  1. Click Add Connection in the top right.
  2. The modal opens with a searchable application dropdown. Type to filter the list.
  3. Select your application and click Next →.
  4. Enter the required credentials (see below).
  5. Complete any further steps shown — for SoftOne, this includes selecting your company, branch, and module.
  6. Click Save Connection.

View connection details

Click any row, or open the Actions menu → Details (if shown), to open the Connection Detail drawer on the right.

The drawer shows:

  • Account identity — name, identifier, and application
  • Application connection details — Connection metadata such as baseurl, application IDs etc.
  • Status & health — connection status, created date, last modified date, and last tested date
  • Automation rules — the rules attached to this connection. See Automation rules

Test a connection

Click Test in the drawer header to run a health check on the connection. TaxLayer runs a four-stage handshake: Ping → Login → Authenticate → Get Data. The result is shown in the drawer, and the Last Tested timestamp updates on success.

Use this whenever you suspect a connection has stopped working — for example after a password change.

Rename a connection

  1. Open the Actions menu on the row.
  2. Click Rename.
  3. Enter the new name and confirm.

Delete a connection

  1. Open the Actions menu on the row.
  2. Click Delete.
  3. Confirm the deletion.

Note: Deleting a connection removes it from TaxLayer. Any data that was already synced or posted via this connection is not removed.

Troubleshooting

"Failed to load more connections" appears while scrolling. A temporary error occurred loading the next page. Scroll down again to retry, or refresh the page.

The page shows an error on load. The connections service may be temporarily unavailable. Click Retry in the error banner or refresh the page.
