Navigation - Full Application Users

Standard users see the full application sidebar, with access to core features. The sidebar is divided into:

Main navigation

To pick up a draggable item, press the space bar. While dragging, use the arrow keys to move the item. Press space again to drop the item in its new position, or press escape to cancel.

TaxLayer integrates with SoftOne to automatically post processed documents back into your ERP. Once connected and configured with automation rules, TaxLayer can route each document type — sales invoices, purchase invoices, credit notes, receipts, and more — to the correct destination in SoftOne without manual intervention.

How the integration works

When TaxLayer processes a document, it extracts and classifies the data, then checks whether any automation rules apply. If a rule matches the document type, TaxLayer automatically posts the document to the configured destination in SoftOne.

The flow is:

A document enters TaxLayer (via upload, email, or mobile scanner)
TaxLayer extracts and classifies the document (e.g. "Purchase Invoice – Goods")
TaxLayer checks the automation rules for your SoftOne connection
If a matching rule exists, TaxLayer posts the document to the specified SoftOne destination
The document is recorded in both TaxLayer and SoftOne
Documents that do not match any rule are not posted automatically. You can route these to Manual Review or leave them unhandled.

How to create a new TaxLayer account

The signup process is a two-stage form:

Company details
Account details

Before you begin, you will need:

A valid company email address
Your company’s VAT number (AFM)
Your country

How to sign up

Stage 1 — Company details

Go to the TaxLayer signup page
Select your country
Enter your company name
Enter your company email address
Enter your company VAT number
Click Continue

Stage 2 — Account details

Enter your email address
Create and confirm your password
Enter your first name and last name

What happens next

After submitting:

A verification email is sent to your email address
You must verify your email before logging in

Signing up via an invitation

If you were invited to an organisation:

Click the invitation link in your email
You will land on /signupinvite
Enter and confirm your password
Click Submit You will automatically join the existing organisation.

Troubleshooting

Submit button is disabled

Ensure all required fields are completed
Ensure both password fields match

No verification email received

Check your spam folder

VAT

The VAT page shows the client's VAT position, how much VAT they have charged on sales, how much they have paid on purchases, and what the net position is for any selected period. All data comes from the AADE myDATA API using the client's stored credentials.

What you see

The client collects this on behalf of the tax authority. Input VAT is the VAT the client pays on invoices they receive from suppliers. This is the VAT they have already paid out. Net VAT Position is Output VAT minus Input VAT — the amount the client owes to, or is owed by, the tax authority. KPI cards Output VAT What it shows: The total VAT collected on all invoices the client issued in the selected period. How it is calculated: Sum of all VAT amounts on issued invoices, using myDATA VAT codes 301–329. Displayed as: Euro amount (€). Plain terms: This is the VAT the client has charged to their customers. Document Details

The document details page shows the full extracted data, classification, client match status, and any errors for a single document. It opens when you click a row in the Documents list. Header The header shows: Filename — the original filename of the uploaded document Pipeline status badge — the current processing stage or final status Client badge — whether the document has been matched to a client (see Client matching below) Classification tags — the direction, category, kind, variant, and document type assigned during processing (see Document classification below) Link client button — shown when the document is unlinked. Click to manually assign the document to a client Client matching When a document is processed, TaxLayer attempts to automatically match it to one of your clients. The match is shown as a badge in the header. Matched (green) The document was automatically matched to a client using the VAT number or company name found in the document Unlinked (red) No matching client was found. You need to link the document manually How automatic matching works TaxLayer extracts the VAT number (AFM) and company name from the document during processing. It then compares these against your client records: If the VAT number matches a client's AFM exactly, the document is linked to that client If the company name closely matches a client name, the document is linked with a name-based match If neither match is found, the document is marked Unlinked The accuracy of automatic match

The Connections page is where you manage links to external accounting and ERP systems. Each connection is a configured link to one external service instance. Once connected, you can attach automation rules to control what happens when documents are processed.

Each connection represents:

One configured integration

What you see

The connections table shows:

Add a connection

Click Add Connection in the top right.
The modal opens with a searchable application dropdown. Type to filter the list.
Select your application and click Next →.
Enter the required credentials (see below).
Complete any further steps shown — for SoftOne, this includes selecting your company, branch, and module.
Click Save Connection.

View connection details

Click any row, or open the Actions menu → Details (if shown), to open the Connection Detail drawer on the right. The drawer shows:

Account identity — name, identifier, and application
Application connection details — Connection metadata such as baseurl, application IDs etc.
